Yesterday, was one of the saddest days of my life. After prolonging his life for several months, we put Toemas down. It was quick, too quick, and he was not in any pain. He just went to sleep. He is now somewhere looking down on us and enjoying life, no longer living in fear and feeling like he must protect his family at all costs. He is running and jumping and catching fireflies. He has an endless supply of squeaky toys. And he is just waiting for us all to come up and snuggle. We miss him terribly.

The Doghouse (or should I say canine condo)
I spent about 9 hours Saturday working on the doghouse. I am still in pain. When you aren't used to wearing steel toed boots, your legs get quite a work out (which really isn't a bad thing). I also bought myself a new toy to help ease the pain of multiple cuts... a miter saw (chop saw) with laser guide. Although, even with the "precise" laser guide, I screwed up some of the cuts!

I have managed to completely frame each side... just need to put the plywood on and insulation in and actually nail it to the perfectly level bottom (thank you sweetie). I'll take pics this weekend and show you the progress.

1995 Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame
After an exhausting week at work (two days of intensive project management training), I drove up to NH, complete, with a picnic dinner for Amanda and I. We decided to open the La Grand e Dame that I bought at New Year's.

I think Wine Spectator's review says it all... Score 94 “This very distinctive Champagne is bold and complex, exhibiting roasted elements of toasted bread, nuts and coffee, along with dried fruit and citrus nuances. The structure is firm and fresh, with a superlong finish evoking walnuts.”

Mmmm... It's clear that this is what we'll be drinking at the wedding (well at least for the head tables)!

Well, my birthday week is sadly coming to a close, but it will be one to remember. Amanda presented me with a weekend long string of little presents, starting with breakfast by OREO, lumber for a doghouse, several special dinners, a bottle of champagne, a wine refridgerator and a string of hugs & kisses along the way.

In addition to well wishes and various presents from friends and family, it just wouldn't be my b-day without treating myself... New Palm Pilot, Special Edition Palm Zire 72, a series of massages, new CD's, and a mani & pedi.

This weekend... the gay & lesbian wedding expo!!!! Stay tuned!!
