Tales from the South End
okay, well really this is just a spot for me to ramble on about random topics

Saw Bourne Supremecy last night. It's one of those movies where the sequel is better than the first. I especially enjoyed the high speed car chases.
Having to cut my date short last night (much to my dismay), I returned back to the office until after midnight only to return again, just an hour ago. As I was waiting for my huge delivery to finish last night, it dawned on me that I'm leaving Tuesday and NOT Wednesday of next week. So much to do before then - laundry, mani & pedi, haircut, shopping, more shopping, pack. UGH!
On another note, I got home around 12:15AM to the sound of my two adorable gay boi roommates singing to Mariah Carey and prepping for a night of dancing at Campus. That just makes me giggle.

Talking with some co-workers who just got back from an FTD Florist show in Las Vegas. He was explaining that there was a constant smell of your grandparents couch, as there was a cigar conference right next door. Ewww!
Spoke with my friend Pamela this morning as she's flying out today for Amsterdam. We finalized our plans for meeting at our hotel in Paris next week. We'll then take the train to Amsterdam a few days later. I need a very quick crash course in French & Dutch. My "learn german" every day of the year calendar isn't quite cutting it! I guess that's what I deserve for buying it on clearance.
I also booked my class for my Advanced Open Water Diving Certification. Although, I'm not sure I'm going to enjoy diving in New England. I hope I can rent a dry suit!
I'm already planning some weekend dive trips this fall. And, I think I have found a few more dive buddies in the area that are up for some spontaneous dive excursions.

Went to a Lowell Spinners Monday night. Fortunately they kept updating the crowd with the Red Sox status because that was the only reason we had to cheer.
Not sure where they picked these kids up, but it was more like watching a little league game than minor league baseball.
I found myself cheering for the other team, just so I could stay into the game.
Was supposed to take a friend Acura shopping tonight, but we really need better weather to fully appreciate the 260 HP test drive. Vroooooom!

So here's my story for the weekend... Friday night I head to Framingham (to buy books for Paris & Amsterdam). I meet up with a friend and we decide to meet a couple of her friends in Boston at "Jack's". After driving around for a while trying to find it... I realized that she meant to say, Jacque's (Brazilian accents will get you every time).
Apparently, the back-up plan was to meet them at Club Cafe - so that's exactly what we did. I had forgotten how much of a male meat-market it is there. The music was bad and all the guys kind of stared at the few females in the place (few lesbians might I add).
Her friends showed up... and low-and-behold, her friend is DJ Susan Esthera. Now for those of you who know me... my favorite lesbian DJ is DJ Dena (apparently there is some kind of rivalry), but after hanging out for the night... I'm willing to revisit this. Besides, they told me DJ Dena is too old for me. So who am I to argue.
After deciding it was a bit too slow at Club Cafe, we drove over to Machine and hit the dance-floor in pure lesbian style - no rhythm (okay, so that was just me). Nonetheless, we danced until closing and also got to see my favorite bar tender (Rob) who I hadn't seen since pride. He still remembers my old stand-by drink - Stoli Razz & Seven - and gave me that "being a good girl?" tonight look when I asked for two waters. But at least I didn't have a headache the next morning! However, I did sleep until Noon. I don't remember the last time I did that.
The rest of the weekend was pretty mellow... spent some money... went to the driving range... spent more money... discovered the beauty of Cable On-Demand.... spent money... unpacked some more.... and even went to the grocery store. Phew. Now I'm at the office and sooooo not ready for a busy week.

Forgot to mention that I tried a wonderful new Rye the other night (at the office no less). Eh, it was after 5:00PM!
Black Maple Hill 15 year old Rye Whiskey
After adding just a couple drops of water, a nice buttery/caramel smell touches the nose. A nice long finish makes this one of my new favorites.
I think I have even convinced some of the wine drinkers to venture out of their comfort zone. Everyone loved it.
On another note, thank god, the DNC is finally here. Hopefully Bostonians will now stop complaining and freaking out about the damn traffic and how awful "their" lives & commutes will be.
And lastly, buying a grill tonight and am planning to get in a round of golf this weekend.

Couple things to note:
1) Loving the new place more and more each day. It's nice to be able to walk down the street and not be afraid of being mugged.
2) The new cats that live in the house - Bailey & Dante - are wonderful (although, I miss Kennedy & Sommersby terribly) .
3) Vacation - since I don't have to worry about the DNC traffic living in Watertown, I've decided to take my vacation a week later. I'll be flying into Paris August 3rd. Spending a couple days there, then taking the train to Amsterdam until the 10th. And in case you aren't aware.... Amsterdam pride is August 5-9. Should be a crazy time!

Today's Horoscope:
Do something creative around the house. Get in touch with your inner decorator, gardener or carpenter. Keep on knocking on doors to places you want to go. Happy private activity takes your mind off the world outside the gates. Let yourself be absorbed in your niche and get happy.
So, I've moved to Watertown. My commute is now 5.36 miles - 10 minutes!

We played a nice round of golf at the Franklin Park Golf Course this afternoon. The first couple of holes were a bit rough; but by the 4th hole I was finally getting into my swing.
Went to pick up the last of my custom made shirts.
Sigh. They had the wrong collar type and it should have had a pleat.
I sent it back. So I guess I will have to wait another couple of months.
On another note, Henri & Sommersby are making great strides in accepting each other. They were both in the bed with us this morning; at the same time! Well, until Henri decided to plan a sneak attack.

So, as I was giving Amanda a kiss goodbye in the parking lot this morning, a bird pooped on us. They say that is good luck in some cultures. Good lord I hope so! Gave us a good laugh anyhow.
After work we swiftly proceeded to the driving range: Granite Links in Quincy.
Only $25K to join;
soon to be $100K.
Not sure what the real benefits of joining are;
but the view is fabulous.
After a disappointing romp at Marshalls & Office Max; we went to the grocery store. Please note that you should never go shopping on an empty stomach!
Our cart contents: Smart Water, Diet Pepsi (caffeinated & non-caffeinated), a bunch of Lean Cuisines, extra thick bacon, steak, chips & salsa and other various munchies. Thank god I'm not on a diet!
Now, we're just finishing up a bottle of Penfold's Koonunga Shiraz/Cabernet while watching Victor/Victoria. How lovely!

We couldn't hear the Pops from the window;
thank god, in the case of David Lee Roth.
But our view of the fireworks over the charles, was amazing from the loft.
We also had a lovely time up on the North Shore.
Parade (much less swag than the Pride parade).
Then a cookout at Tuck's Point.
Also, crashed a jewish wedding.
Speaking of weddings. My brother informed me today that he and his girlfriend Dara are going to wed in September. He said... this time I'm getting married for the "right reasons".
On another note, it rained today.
Sooo...
I ate.
AND, I shopped (I now have 4 new bras & two new pairs of shoes).

Friday Night:
5:00PM - Mani & Pedi
6:15PM - Apps & Drinks at 647 Tremont
8:30PM - McGolf Driving Range
9:45PM - Cable Car at Bonfire
10:00PM - Man shot dead at 650 Tremont
Gulp.
Saturday:
My first golf game at the President's Club Golf Course in Quincy.
I did surprisingly well on the first nine.
Should have quit there, but we played all 18.
Got hit on by a 'man' in the clubhouse. EWWW!
Now the sun has set and I'm ready for my next nap.
Tomorrow holds another parade and cookout; hopefully, less the emergency room visit!
Happy 4th!
