Tales from the South End
okay, well really this is just a spot for me to ramble on about random topics

Friday, February 27, 2004

Okay, so I love having my garage spot; however, I really didn't feel like going out of the house to move it before 10AM while still in my PJ's. The upside -- I do love walking around in the South End and I think I may go back out for a hot chocolate, because that's the kind of girl I am. I know I've been lax on the Orlando pics, but I swear, I've been swamped at work. Will try and post later today. TGIF!

Aw, just about to hit Preview and I look over and Sommersby & Kennedy were sitting in the window TOGETHER! They are the best cats ever. Mew.

Note to self: STOP accepting new contract work! Although, I'm a big fan of overextending myself.

Big news here though. Have a contractor coming in Monday to assist me in our template architecture work. I get to give him all the grunt work! LOVE THAT!

Bought myself a present yesterday - 200GB Firewire External Hard Drive accompanied by a Combo USB 2.0 & Firewire PCMCIA Card.

Also, I need a new laptop. I'm trying to convince the company to buy me a new one. I continuously get out of memory errors and I already have 1GB of RAM and I'm almost out of disk space with 30GB, just under 1GB left. Any suggestions?

Had a fabulous time in Orlando. Weather was perfect and the crowds weren't bad at all. Although, a few too many pre-school age kids for my liking. Nonetheless, it was fun to revisit the Magic Kingdom. My favorite ride is still "It's a Small World". Come on, I know you're singing right now! Their fireworks display was incredible! Pictures to be posted tomorrow. And, did I mention that Minnie stood me up? Damn mouse!

Got a fabulous new haircut yesterday - short & sweet. And, just in time for my date with Minnie. Hoping to catch Cirque du Soleil's La Nouba tonight and then hitting Magic Kingdom tomorrow. Also, hoping to rejuvenate my fading St. Lucia tan. Pictures to come by Monday. Ciao!

Somedays, you just need a cookie. Today is one of them.

Thank heavens tomorrow is Friday. Going to Orlando for the weekend. A bit of a random trip, but looking forward to it. If you are looking for me, Minnie and I will be playing house in Neverneverland.

There is something to be said about a clean desk. Ahhhh.

Had a nice relaxing weekend -- partly in Maine, partly in Boston. It was good to be home Sunday. The kitties had a field day in the apartment and have decided that they rule the house. Sommersby thinks he's a dog. And Kennedy, well, she's still in the closet.

Few notes from the weekend:
ICE WINE - it's all the rage.
The River Street Whole Foods has a lovely selection of cheeses - just ask Derek for a taste.
Tim's Tavern - good burgers, cheap.
There is nothing like a pair of Danskos.
Love a clean car with heated leather seats.
Best to only ride boat ferries during warm months.
Flat panel TV's need to come down in price.
Mike's Hard Lemonade LIGHT -- very tasty for those watching their carb intake.

My couch has finally arrived! Check it out. Although, I need to buy a flat panel TV immediately. And by god, I have more space than I thought -- perhaps I should buy a table? Nah, eating is over-rated. House warming party to come... early March is looking good. Okay, so much to do before then.

Eating a bowl of chicken corn chowder. I think I could have done without the chicken.

Couldn't sleep last night, so the kitties and I did some eBay shopping. Thank god, I have been receiving outbid notices. I'd be stuck with even more junk packed in boxes. Just so you know, I was bidding on some rare wade figurines. Although, I think I may go back and re-bid on the Limited Edition Scooby. Scoooobbby-dooooby-doo!

I'm cranky. My hot chocolate from Appleton Bakery made me think that water has flavor. Although, the banana chocolate chip muffin is making up for my loss. I am now patiently awaiting the arrival of the underwater photos taken while diving in St. Lucia. Will share as soon as I get them.

So I finally realized that I have not spent a complete week at my apartment since I moved December 1st. Hence, I haven't cleaned it (well other than surface cleaning). Was going to go grocery shopping... but wanted to let my fridge warm up a bit... it has been freezing anything in there due to the lack of items in the fridge!

Spent most of yesterday trying to unpack, organize and clean. Thank god tomorrow is trash day.

Also, I will be doing a wee-bit of rearranging this evening. The couch & ottomans are scheduled for delivery on Thursday. Just need to figure out how I can be there for the infamous 3 hour delivery window. UGH. Also, need to move the bed again... have I mentioned the bed-frame from Jordan's is fabulous?

OMG... I almost forgot to mention a brush with the infamous Eliot from Jordan's furniture. He attended the same movie as me the other night. The whole theatre erupted after a Jordan's commercial came on and someone yelled, "That is him". He graciously, waved a hand and said, yes! Fortunately, the movie started promptly thereafter and there was not too big of a mob scene.

Ate dinner at Sweet Water Cafe last night. Had the "Blue Burger" - cajun seasoning, pan seared to a lovely medium rare, with melted blue cheese and topped with onion strings. Now, I've had good burgers in my life; however, this gets the gold medal. Additionally, the spinach & artichoke dip was exceptional.

Hadn't been to the movies in a while; saw Monster. I'm still trying to decompress. I cannot even fathom being in a frame of mind where one convinces themselves they are not doing anything wrong. I'm still a bit disturbed by the whole thing. Charlize Theron gave the performance of her career. Enough said.

Followed the movie with a jaunt to Hollywood, as a friend's band was playing. Hadn't been there since the summer. I remember why now. Not my crowd. The coat check room almost wouldn't give our coats back because we left so quickly.

Well, I think I'm going to try and do my taxes today. Nah, maybe I'll just go shopping!

PS: St. Lucia Pictures (please note that they are unedited)

Had a lovely dinner last night at the Algonquin Club.
Then saw the Celtics lose to the Hawks.

Note to self... must work on my gentlemen skills. Again, my sincere apologies Julia! ha,ha,ha

Back to work this morning. Still going through emails (967 to be exact).
Rest of the trip was amazing. Will write more about it later and will have pictures posted soon.

And just so you know. I'm now certified (PADI) as an Open Water Diver. More to come on this. Seven incredible dives to show & tell you about.

Just finished up my Swedish massage. My god that was nice. Every knot in my body has dissipated and I'm ready for my first drink of the day. Had an early morning. Had to be up and in the scuba pool by 8:30. Yesterday's dive was so incredible, I decided I to get certified. Had two more dives today, one more tomorrow and 2 more in Martinique on Tuesday. Have you ever seen an angel fish up close? Or had a crab crawl over your hand? Or just hearing the sounds of your breathing while you explore coral drenched reefs? No wonder I'm hooked. And frankly, I needed another hobby like a hole in the head. Additionally had a lovely dinner at Mario's last night -- well once we got there. The bus dropped us off at the wrong hotel! Ooops! $60 later, we arrived at the correct hotel.

Okay... off to get myself a drink. Oh, and I have sprouted freckles on my legs ;)
